Do I have to itemize deductions to deduct mortgage interest on a house?

I am planning to buy a house in the state of washington in year 2010. Since I don’t have mortgage, I take the standard deduction now and I am wondering if I can keep doing it next year and still deduct my mortgage interest payments.

what government help is there for home owners with FIXED RATES?

I saw that there is mortgage bailout assist for homeowners with an adjustable rate mortgage…but I have not heard the same for those with fixed rates. Has anyone else?

Is it wise to refinance your home mortgage to consolidate auto loans?

My gut answer to this is no. I tend to think that a refi on my home mortgage for 30 years to consolidate a 4 -5 year auto loan only extends my payments and in another 5 years or so I will have to get another auto. Would a 2nd mtg or line of credit for the auto loan be wiser?

Home Mortage Rates: 1% Lower – When to refinance?

My home mortgage rate is currently 6.375%.

The mortgage rates in my state is lower then the current one I have. [Michigan]

When do I know when to refinance? Should I let it drop some more, or shold I lock in the rate now?

How soon do I have to pay the monthly mortgage after moving in the house?

Does the lender give like a month allowance? Because if not then I’ll have to pay both my apartment rent and monthly mortgage in a month. ouch!
